Vertigo Forces Alex Bowman Out of Upcoming Phoenix Cup Series Race

Phoenix, AZ – Alex Bowman, driver of the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, will be absent from this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway due to a diagnosis of vertigo. We’re encouraged by the progress he’s making, but we have to prioritize his health above all else. It’s obviously frustrating for him because he’s a competitor and wants to be in the race car, especially at his home track. We’ll continue to support Alex and look forward to his return as soon as he’s medically cleared."

Taking Bowman’s place in the No. 48 Chevrolet for the Phoenix event will be Anthony Alfredo. Alfredo, a familiar face in NASCAR circles, currently competes full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. He brings a degree of Cup Series experience to the seat, having made 43 previous starts in the premier NASCAR division.
