Trackhouse Racing Bids Fond Farewell to Pioneering Driver Daniel Suarez at Phoenix Season Finale

Phoenix, AZ – As the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season culminates at Phoenix Raceway, Trackhouse Racing is set to honor Daniel Suarez, the inaugural driver and a foundational pillar of the burgeoning organization, in his final race with the team. The Mexican-born driver’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter for both Suarez and Trackhouse, a partnership that began with a vision and evolved into a competitive force in the sport.

Suarez’s tenure with Trackhouse Racing, spanning five seasons from 2021 to 2024, represents his longest commitment with any team in the NASCAR Cup Series. He was not merely a driver but a crucial early recruit, instrumental in shaping the team’s identity and early successes. His journey with Trackhouse is marked by a series of significant firsts for the team, including their maiden top-five finish, their first top-ten result, and their initial laps led. These milestones underscored Suarez’s pivotal role in establishing Trackhouse Racing’s presence and credibility in the highly competitive Cup Series.

The partnership yielded two memorable victories for Suarez. In 2022, he secured his first Cup Series win at Sonoma Raceway, a historic road course triumph that signaled the team’s potential. This was followed by another significant victory in 2024 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, a race renowned for its dramatic, three-wide photo finish, which stands as one of the closest finishes in NASCAR history. These wins not only added to Suarez’s personal accolades but also cemented Trackhouse Racing’s status as a team capable of competing for checkered flags.

Despite these achievements, Suarez’s time with Trackhouse will conclude after Sunday’s race at Phoenix. He is slated to join Spire Motorsports for the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, signaling a new direction for his career. This transition, while a natural progression in the dynamic world of motorsports, prompts a moment of reflection on the significant impact Suarez has had on Trackhouse Racing.

In recognition of his contributions, Suarez will pilot a special paint scheme for his final race with the team. Additionally, he will be utilizing the same helmet he wore during his recent NASCAR Xfinity Series victory in Mexico City, a poignant nod to his racing roots and his connection to the global motorsport community. This gesture highlights the team’s appreciation for his journey and his broader influence beyond the Cup Series.

Reflecting on his five-year association with Trackhouse, Suarez described the team’s inception as a nascent concept. "Trackhouse was literally a piece of paper the first time I heard about the team," he shared in a weekly team advance. "It was interesting to me, because I was coming from a team that was an upstart project, but when the COVID epidemic hit, it didn’t work out. Essentially Trackhouse was a similar project." Suarez emphasized his immediate belief in the team’s potential, a conviction that contrasted with some of his initial confidants. "I believed in it right away; my dad and others did not, but my gut was telling me that it was something good after talking with Justin."

His intuition proved correct, leading to a period of substantial growth and achievement. "I followed my gut, and I wasn’t wrong," Suarez stated. "I was super happy because I believed Trackhouse was probably the first team in the NASCAR Cup Series that gave me 100% trust. We were able to build something very good together and I’m very proud of that. Definitely the best moments of my career in the Cup Series have been at Trackhouse and that’s another thing I’m going to keep with me."

During his tenure, Suarez qualified for the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs twice with Trackhouse Racing, achieving a season-best championship standing of tenth. These playoff appearances demonstrated his consistent performance and the team’s capability to contend for a championship.

In a heartfelt farewell, Trackhouse Racing founder and owner Justin Marks prepared a special tribute video for Suarez, acknowledging his integral role in the team’s development. "Dear Daniel, thank you for giving this team your all," Marks conveyed in his message. "From the very beginning, you helped lay the foundation of what Trackhouse would become. You believed in this vision when it was still just the beginning, and through every challenge, you helped turn it into something real. Every race, every fight, and every moment that reminded us why we do what we do."

Marks further elaborated on Suarez’s impact, stating, "You brought energy, passion, and heart to the Trackhouse. You gave our fans moments they’ll never forget. You carried yourself with pride. Trackhouse grew with you. We learned, we fought, we celebrated together, and the memories we made along the way will always be part of our story." He concluded with a profound expression of gratitude: "Thank you Daniel for everything you’ve given to this team."

Suarez’s departure signifies the end of an era for Trackhouse Racing, marking the conclusion of a collaborative journey that saw a fledgling team evolve into a recognized contender, with Suarez playing a pivotal role in its formative years and initial successes. His final race at Phoenix Raceway will not only be a competitive outing but also a moment to commemorate a significant partnership that has left an indelible mark on the history of Trackhouse Racing. The team now looks to the future, carrying the lessons and achievements forged during their time with their pioneering driver.
