NASCAR’s Hottest Collectibles: Trackhouse Driver Dominates Lionel’s 2025 Diecast Sales Chart

Charlotte, NC – Lionel Racing, the official diecast producer for NASCAR, has unveiled its highly anticipated list of the top ten best-selling NASCAR Cup Series diecasts from the 2025 season. The countdown, released throughout Wednesday, offers a comprehensive look at which drivers and moments captured the attention of fans and collectors alike. This year’s rankings highlight a blend of established stars, emerging talents, and significant historical tributes.

The 2025 season saw a notable shift in fan preferences, with a strong showing from drivers making significant impacts in their respective campaigns. This trend continues a recent pattern where fan engagement with diecast replicas is closely tied to memorable on-track performances and significant career milestones.

Looking back at previous years provides context for the current landscape. In 2024, the enduring popularity of Dale Earnhardt Jr. was underscored when his Budweiser-backed Late Model car outsold all other diecasts. This echoed a trend of nostalgia-driven sales, as seen in 2023 when Kevin Harvick’s return to his iconic No. 29 scheme, a recreation of his 2001 Busch Light Ford Mustang, topped the charts. The year prior, 2022, witnessed the unique appeal of Ross Chastain’s "Hail Melon" moment at Martinsville, with his wall-ride car, complete with visible damage, becoming the best-selling diecast. Kevin Harvick’s popular Grave Digger paint scheme on his No. 4 car secured the top spot in 2021.

Chase Elliott, a perennial fan favorite and multiple-time NASCAR Most Popular Driver, has a strong history of leading these sales figures. His championship-winning No. 9 NAPA Chevrolet from 2020 held the top position, and his diecasts have consistently performed well, dominating the charts in 2019, 2018, and 2016. Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s throwback scheme from his final Cup Series start in 2017 also proved immensely popular, while various Earnhardt car replicas consistently held the top sales spots from 2012 to 2015, demonstrating a deep and lasting connection with his fanbase.

The return of Red Bull sponsorship to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2025 proved a significant draw for collectors. Shane van Gisbergen’s No. 88 Chevrolet, adorned with the iconic Red Bull livery, marked the brand’s first victory in over 13 years when the New Zealander triumphed at Sonoma Raceway. Van Gisbergen, who was sponsored by Red Bull for six races, led an impressive 97 of 110 laps in his dominant Sonoma performance. He also carried the Red Bull colors to his first Cup Series top ten finish on an oval at Kansas Speedway, showcasing his versatility and the immediate appeal of this partnership.

9. Josh Berry #21 Wood Brothers / Motorcraft Chevrolet (Vegas raced version)
Josh Berry’s maiden NASCAR Cup Series victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway early in the 2025 season, piloting the legendary Wood Brothers No. 21, resonated strongly with fans. This win marked the historic team’s 101st at the Cup level. Berry secured the victory by besting Daniel Suarez on a late-race restart, leading the final 15 laps. The "raced win" version of this diecast captures the excitement of that moment, complete with confetti from Victory Lane.

8. Connor Zilisch #87 Trackhouse / Red Bull Chevrolet
Another Trackhouse Racing entry featuring Red Bull sponsorship, the diecast of teenage phenom Connor Zilisch’s No. 87 Chevrolet also garnered significant interest. Zilisch made his Cup Series debut at COTA in this striking machine. While his debut ended in a 37th-place finish after an incident, he ran the same paint scheme in all three of his Cup starts, achieving a career-best 11th place at Atlanta and a 23rd-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600. His rapid ascent and association with the popular Red Bull brand contributed to the diecast’s strong performance.

7. Kyle Larson #5 Hendrick / Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet (Phoenix raced version)
Kyle Larson’s third-place finish at Phoenix Raceway in the 2025 season finale was enough to clinch his second NASCAR Cup Series championship, edging out Denny Hamlin. This "raced version" diecast is an exact replica of the car Larson drove to secure his title, a testament to his championship season and his status as a top competitor. The meticulous detail in replicating the championship-winning car appeals directly to dedicated fans.

6. Kyle Larson #5 Hendrick / Hendrickcars.com championship Chevrolet
This special edition diecast celebrates Larson’s 2025 championship in a distinct way. While visually similar to his regular No. 5 Chevrolet, it features a yellow windshield banner and yellow rear spoiler signifying his playoff run. The most significant distinction is the replacement of the standard No. 5 on the roof with an icon that proudly proclaims "NASCAR Cup Series Champion." This symbolic representation of his ultimate achievement made it a highly sought-after collectible.

5. William Byron #24 Hendrick / Axalta Daytona 500 win Chevrolet (raced version)
William Byron etched his name in history by becoming only the fifth driver to win back-to-back Daytona 500s in 2025. His unlikely victory in the season opener, capitalizing on a late-race melee involving the leading contenders, captured the dramatic flair of the crown jewel event. The "raced win" diecast version of his No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet commemorates this feat, featuring authentic race damage and Victory Lane confetti, appealing to collectors who value the narrative of a hard-fought win.

4. Chase Elliott #9 Hendrick / NAPA Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta win Chevrolet (raced version)
The Most Popular Driver, Chase Elliott, secured a significant win at his home track, battling through a race-halting pileup to outduel Brad Keselowski. The special paint scheme for this victory, designed by 11-year-old Rhealynn Mills, added a unique philanthropic and fan-driven element. This "raced version" diecast, representing his triumph, highlights the appeal of Elliott’s connection with his fanbase and memorable race wins.

3. Justin Allgaier #40 JR Motorsports / Traveller Whiskey Chevrolet (raced version)
The debut of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s JR Motorsports organization in the NASCAR Cup Series was a significant moment, and Justin Allgaier’s performance in the Daytona 500 was central to that narrative. Allgaier, the reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, battled through adversity, including front-left damage, to secure a top-ten finish in the prestigious event. The "raced version" diecast captures the gritty nature of his run, complete with visible battle scars and even a recreation of the bearbond tape used for repairs, resonating with fans who appreciate the underdog story and the team’s historic entry.

2. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Budweiser Speedway Classic Chevrolet Late Model
Despite his retirement from full-time Cup Series competition, Dale Earnhardt Jr. continues to command immense popularity in the diecast market. This entry celebrates his reunion with Budweiser and a special paint scheme that paid homage to the 2001 MLB All-Star Game livery he ran at Daytona. The scheme was adapted for a Late Model Stock car for the Speedway Classic MLB game promotion at Bristol Motor Speedway. Earnhardt Jr.’s participation in a CARS Tour event with this scheme, finishing tenth, further fueled collector interest, demonstrating the enduring appeal of his legacy and iconic sponsors.

1. Justin Allgaier #40 JR Motorsports / Traveller Whiskey Chevrolet
Topping the charts, the standard diecast of Justin Allgaier’s No. 40 JR Motorsports Chevrolet from its Daytona 500 debut secured the top spot. This indicates that the story of JR Motorsports’ maiden Cup Series voyage, and Allgaier’s role in it, resonated strongly even without the specific "raced" elements. The success of this diecast, alongside the "raced version" at No. 3, signifies a remarkable achievement for the JR Motorsports team, with affiliated cars sweeping the top three positions on Lionel’s best-selling list for 2025. This sweep underscores the significant fan support for Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s involvement in the sport, both as a driver and a team owner.
