Bellingham Returns to England Squad, Alexander-Arnold Remains Sidelined.

London – Jude Bellingham has been recalled to the England national team squad for the upcoming international fixtures, marking his return after a period of absence due to a shoulder injury. However, his Real Madrid teammate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, continues to be unavailable for selection as he recovers from a thigh injury.

Bellingham’s inclusion comes after he missed the previous two international breaks as he recuperated from surgery to address a shoulder problem. Since late September, he has gradually reintegrated into club football, regaining his fitness and form.

Following a relatively quiet start, where he went without a goal or assist in his first six appearances, Bellingham has found his scoring touch, registering three goals and one assist in his last four matches. This resurgence in form has prompted England manager Gareth Southgate to reinstate him into the squad for the November international window.

Alexander-Arnold’s continued absence is a setback for both the player and the national team. He recently made his return to the Liverpool lineup, but the lingering effects of the thigh injury, which had sidelined him for an extended period, have prevented him from joining up with the England squad.

England currently lead Group C of the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, having accumulated 16 points from six matches. They sit ahead of Ukraine, Italy, North Macedonia, and Malta in the group standings.

England could secure their qualification for the Euro 2024 tournament with a victory over Malta on November 17, or with a draw, provided that North Macedonia does not defeat Italy. The Three Lions will also face North Macedonia on November 20 in their final qualifying match.
