"Smoke" Returns to NASCAR’s National Ranks: Tony Stewart Set for Truck Series Debut at Daytona

Three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart is poised for a significant return to national-level NASCAR competition, marking his first Truck Series start in two decades. "I’ve raced just about everything with four wheels at Daytona, but never a truck," Stewart stated in a press release. "So when a seat in the new Ram was offered up for their first race back in NASCAR, I didn’t hesitate. Ram’s Free Agent program is another great way for me to stay sharp and have a little fun."

Kaulig Racing’s "Free Agent" program is designed to feature a rotating cast of drivers throughout the season in their No. 25 entry. Stewart’s inclusion marks the inaugural driver for this initiative.

Tim Kuniskis, Head of American Brands, SRT Performance, NA Marketing and Retail Strategy at Stellantis, expressed enthusiasm for Stewart’s participation. He is a former IndyCar Series champion and holds the unique distinction of being the only driver to win all three USAC National championships – Midget, Sprint, and Silver Crown – in a single year. He currently competes in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. His Cup Series career is highlighted by 49 wins and three championships.
