Former Haas Formula 1 team principal Guenther Steiner has issued a stark warning regarding Esteban Ocon’s prospects in the sport, predicting the Frenchman will lose his seat by the conclusion of the current season unless he implements "drastic changes" to his performance and approach. Steiner’s comments, delivered on The Red Flags Podcast following Ocon’s challenging 14th-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix, underscore the immense pressure on the Alpine driver amidst a highly competitive Formula 1 landscape.
"I think he’s gone by the end of the year. He’s not back next year," Steiner asserted during the podcast, referencing Ocon’s performance in Montreal. "Look, how many laps was he down? Two laps, three laps." When pressed on whether Ocon could realistically salvage his position within the sport, Steiner remained skeptical, reiterating, "If he doesn’t change something drastically, he will not be there next year." Steiner’s direct and often unfiltered assessments are well-known within the paddock, and his specific insights, particularly given his recent leadership role within the Haas F1 Team, carry considerable weight regarding driver performance and team dynamics.

No foundation whatsoever, absolute bull," Komatsu stated in Montreal. "If somebody wants to write that kind of bull, feel free, but is that journalism? I have no idea. It’s terrible. Komatsu further clarified that he had not experienced any friction with Ocon, specifically addressing a particular rumor. "I spoke to him this morning, but for me there’s nothing to defend from our side whatsoever. It’s incredible. Part of it is that apparently I had some issue with Esteban in Miami – where’s that come from? I didn’t even have a single argument with Esteban in Miami."
