NBA stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson are set to team up for The Match, TNT’s celebrity golf competition, on June 29th. They will be competing against Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. While Curry is known for his love of golf and regular participation in celebrity tournaments, Thompson is also familiar with the game and has even dished out some trash talk to his fellow Warrior Andre Iguodala in the past.
Mahomes and Kelce are also regular participants in celebrity golf tournaments, including the annual American Century Club event in Lake Tahoe. In last year’s tournament, Curry finished tied for 16th, while Mahomes and Kelce finished further down the leaderboard. TNT is undoubtedly hoping for a showdown between stars of the reigning NBA and NFL champions.
Curry has been an active advocate for growing the sport of golf and has helped fund the UNDERRATED junior golf circuit, as well as providing financial backing for Howard University’s men’s golf team. He has also once competed in a Korn Ferry Tour event in Hayward. While Thompson has never participated in these events, he has done several videos with Golf Channel about his golf game and regularly posts from the golf course.
