A day after his release from the Colts, former Eagles Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles gets personal

Former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles spoke at Mariners Church in Irvine, California about the inevitability of careers coming to an end and what options are next. Foles spoke about a game of pickleball he had recently played where his opponent had no idea he was a Super Bowl MVP quarterback. Despite the lack of recognition outside of Philadelphia, Foles seems fine with moving into obscurity as he tries to discover his true self. While he hinted at retirement, it wouldn’t be the first time that Foles considered calling quits on his NFL career.

Foles has had a career with few starts since leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl win against the Patriots. Foles was released by the Colts who had four quarterbacks on their roster, including former Eagles backup Gardner Minshew. Foles has mentioned that free-agent life offers opportunities to grow and be present with his family. He has a daughter and a son who was born at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Foles is happy with his identity, whether or not it features him on an NFL roster. The most important thing for Foles right now is being the best father and husband he can be. Foles’ career has been up and down due to injuries, and he has been drafted to teams where he had few starts. Despite this, Foles has embraced his role on and off the field and found himself again through his faith. Nonetheless, he doesn’t know what is next, but he knows that someday he will find out, and the big thing will be to make sure his identity is in Christ.
