The Denver Broncos are in good shape after the 2023 NFL Draft, but they still have some roster spots to fill. Here are three free agents they should consider pursuing.
First is Ezekiel Elliott, who remains unsigned despite his talent and accomplishments as one of the most successful running backs in the history of the Dallas Cowboys. While he has taken a lot of hits throughout his career, it is still unclear why teams are not pursuing him in the offseason when they need depth at the running back position. The Broncos should at least give Elliott a look as their top back, Javonte Williams, suffered a major knee injury early on last season.
The Broncos should also consider signing OG Dalton Risner, who previously played for the team. Despite being expected to receive a contract worth $9-11 million per year, Risner is still a free agent. Concerns about his temper towards the starting quarterback may have impacted his prospects, but retaining Risner means the Broncos will sustain their depth at the interior offensive line.
Lastly, the Broncos should target C Ben Jones, who has played for the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans over his 11-year career, making the Pro Bowl in 2022. The competition for the center position is likely to be between Kyle Fuller and Lloyd Cushenberry, with Alex Forsyth learning more about the scheme before starting. While Forsyth could develop into a solid player, signing someone like Jones would strengthen the offensive line and create one of the best units in football.
