The FIDE World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad will take place in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, from August 12-19, 2023. All FIDE member federations have the right to send one team with four players, comprising boys and girls, as well as a captain. The deadline for registration is June 15, 2023. The tournament will be held at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, and players and coaches will be accommodated at the Van Der Valk Hotel.
The event is a 9-round Swiss tournament that will feature each match played over four boards. If fewer than 40 teams are present, only seven rounds will be played. Pairings, scoring, and tiebreak regulations will follow the Pairing Rules for the Chess Olympiad. The time control is 45 minutes with an increment of 10 seconds per move starting from move 1, with a default time of 20 minutes for all rounds.
The organizers advise participants to consider that airports may be crowded during summertime, potentially delaying essential procedures such as check-in and baggage collection.
