Mavericks’ Luka Doncic to pay for funerals from Belgrade shooting



Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic has pledged his support to the families of the victims of a mass shooting that took place at a Belgrade elementary school. The shooting claimed the lives of eight children and a security guard. As part of his commitment, Doncic will pay for funeral services and grief counseling for classmates and staff.

Doncic has strong family ties to the Belgrade region of Serbia, including a grandmother, aunt, uncle, and teenage cousin who all live in the area. His father, Sasha, is a native of Serbia. Doncic has indicated that he plans to be part of any long-term assistance efforts that may arise from the tragedy.

In a statement, Doncic expressed his heartbreak over the tragedy and extended his thoughts to the families and the entire community affected. He added that his foundation would explore both immediate and long-term ways to support the students, faculty, and families affected by the shooting at the Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School.
